The Question

Lyrics

Tomorrow I could be a lover and a friend
But then the sky could also burst into its end
So tell me why I tell myself that it could work
When clearly my hopes only serve to make it worse?

I wouldn't want you to end up with the burden
Of explaining why you know just why we couldn't
I only hope my feelings get attention
That you understand
And that you thought about the question
And that you thought about the question
And that you thought about the question
And that you thought about the question

Would you wanna go
Go to somewhere so
We could be alone
And let our thoughts be known?

Would you wanna go
Go to somewhere so
We could be alone
And let our thoughts be known?

(YEAH!)

It strikes me how you know just how to work me out
When mostly now I forget how things came about
I wonder why it took so long for me to see
But surely now I know that you're the one for me

I hope that you (That you) can somehow find a place for me
We can start anew (Anew), leave the past where it must be
It isn't hard, if you put your back into it
Let go of your guard
And kiss me like you really mean it
And kiss me like you really mean it
And kiss me like you really mean it
Yeah kiss me like you really mean it

Would you wanna go
Go to somewhere so
We could be alone
And let our thoughts be known?

Would you wanna go
Go to somewhere so
We could be alone
And let our thoughts be known?

Would you wanna go
Go to somewhere so
We could be alone
And let our thoughts be known?

Would you wanna go
Go to somewhere so
We could be alone
And let our thoughts be known?

About

Years in the making, "The Question" marks a turning point for YUS. It's a delicate pop anthem, unlike anything previously released, that manages to retain the depth and soul that initially drew listeners in.

It was written in Fall 2012, revised in 2017, and released May 21, 2021. The single includes the single version from 2017, and the demo version from 2012. Both were professionally mixed and mastered in Spring 2021.

The cover art is a thought form, one of many that inspired Wassily Kandinsky during his career. This one depicts a vague feeling of affection.
